This talk is aimed at authors (and future authors) of scientific publications working in any scientific field. The discussion will reveal the pivotal role of editors in curating and shaping the content of a journal, emphasizing the importance of their expertise in maintaining quality and relevance. Attendees will receive valuable tips on selecting the most suitable journal for their research, considering factors such as scope, audience, and impact. Guidance on preparing articles for submission will be shared, highlighting key elements to enhance readability and adherence to journal guidelines. The session will also address the expectations authors should have when interacting with editors, emphasizing effective communication and responsiveness. Furthermore, a comprehensive overview of ethical standards in scientific publishing will be provided, equipping attendees with the knowledge and tools to ensure integrity and compliance in their research endeavours.
Short Bio:
With a degree in Sociology from the Universitat de Barcelona and a Masters in Translation from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (both in Spain), Judith joined Elsevier five years ago after fifteen years working in the field of international communication and publications for healthcare professionals in Barcelona and Paris. During her time at Elsevier, she has served as a Publisher for Health and Medical Sciences journals across various portfolios, both French and international. In her role as Publisher, she oversees the Medical Informatics portfolio at Elsevier, focusing on developing strategies for content growth and advancing open access while staying attuned to evolving market trends, community needs, changing business models, and author/reader demographics. Her objective is to assist authors, editors, reviewers, and societies in disseminating quality research in accordance with the highest publishing ethics standards. Since 2022 she has spearheaded the launch of four new journals: EngMedicine, the Official Journal of Zhongda Hospital, Southeast University; Next Research, a journal covering all science fields; In Silico Research in Biomedicine, covering the niche of in silico research; and Rare. Open Research in Rare Diseases, out of the Medical Informatics field and the first Elsevier journal devoted to all aspects of undiagnosed and rare diseases.
